Permissions

Privacy Browser uses the following permissions.

Have full network access
android.permission.INTERNET

Required for the WebView to access the internet. Without this permission, Privacy Browser would be “No Browser: Protecting Your Privacy by Staying Completely Off the Internet”.

Install shortcuts
com.android.launcher.permission.INSTALL_SHORTCUT

Required to add shortcuts for websites to the launcher desktop.

Nearby devices
android.permission.ACCESS_LOCAL_NETWORK

This is a dangerous permission, meaning users must manually enable it if they desire the functionality. It was added in API 37 (Android 17). It is required to load web pages on the Local Area Network (LAN), like the web interface of a wireless router.

com.stoutner.privacybrowser.standard.DYNAMIC_RECEIVER_NOT_EXPORTED_PERMISSION

Automatically added to all apps targeting API >= 33 (Android 13) to prevent other apps from connecting to dynamic receivers without explicit permission.
